These juicy burgers have a delicious, tangy flavor from the crumbly feta cheese and red pepper mixed right into the patties. Served on a warm, toasted bun with a cool tzatziki sauce adding a rich and creamy flavor in every bite. Serve with crispy, seasoned fries to for a delicious pairing.
INGREDIENTS:
1lb of ground chicken (you can use lamb, beef or turkey too)
2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoons dried basil
1 teaspoon dried thyme
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 shallot, minced
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1/4 cup crumbed feta, plus extra for topping
1/4 red bell pepper, diced
2 tablespoons tzatziki sauce
4 Burger buns
To make the burgers, add ground meat into a bowl. Season with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, lemon zest, paprika, oregano, basil, thyme, garlic, shallot, salt and pepper.. Gently mix in the diced red pepper and crumbled cheese to combine; Form the mixture into four equal patties. In a large pan, heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil on medium-high. Add the patties and cook for about 5 to 6 minutes per side or until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside to rest. Place buns, cut side down in the same pan you used to cook patties in. Toasting until lightly browned. Assemble the burgers on the toasted bun with a smear of the tzatziki sauce and sprinkle with extra feta if you are in to that kind of thing. Enjoy with a side salad or my families favorite, seasoned fries!
