If you live in a small apartment or house, you know how important it is to make the most of every inch of space. One area that often gets overlooked is the front entryway. Do you have a family room that you want to look pretty, feel comfortable, and not worry about the kids ruining the furniture? I designed this kid-friendly family room with all that in mind. This design uses affordable furniture pieces from Walmart that have an updated traditional feel. Two three-seater velvet sofas and two chairs allow comfortable seating for up to ten people. The media center flanked with two bookcases gives you lots of open and closed storage. The rug featuring a medallion pattern brings warmth to the room and the white curtains soften the space. Mixed materials throughout the decor add interest while cozy pillows invite you to sit down to watch your favorite shows on the frame TV.

I also found a set of lovely lamps that complemented each other. To achieve a luxurious hotel-like ambiance, I layered cozy textiles and added greenery with organic shapes to bring balance to the space.

This week I found this gorgeous wallpaper on Etsy so I wanted to create a living room design around it. I wanted the space to feel casual and inviting but still elevated. I used contrast to draw attention and provide lots of interest. A family-friendly neutral sofa is paired with luxe velvet chairs with sloping arms. The bold side tables play nicely with the sculptural curves of the coffee table. A patterned rug anchors the space and pulls the palette together.

If you are lucky, you are already experiencing some fall weather. Here in Oregon, we have a mix of autumn days as well as some summer trying to hold on before going to sleep for another season. Warm sweaters, caramel apple cider, and the beautiful changing leaves are front and center in my head. I wanted to create a living room that felt warm and effortless and would be perfect for curling up with a good book in front of the fireplace. I hope this look inspires you to start bringing cozy autumn vibes into your home too.
