I am sharing a sneak peek at the customized IKEA Pax Wardrobe I am designing for my builder’s grade closet in our primary bedroom.

Like most newer homes, we have the standard builder's grade wire shelving closet. It works okay for us but I feel like there is a lot of wasted space with the single wire shelf. I also wanted a more custom look that could function better for our use. After looking into lots of custom closet options, we realized they were out of our budget. I spent hours looking at DIY builds on Pinterest and compared the time + effort + cost with IKEA’s PAX wardrobe frames and decided that the Pax wardrobes could give me the custom look I wanted within my budget.
I used the PAX wardrobe planner to help plan the PAX frames and the KOMPLEMENT series to customize my closet storage options.
I love that you can add doors and door handles to personalize your closet even further.
You can also add different light options to highlight the areas you need some extra lighting.
This is the design my husband and I settled on. Thomas doesn’t like the doors in a walk-in closet so we decided against them. I am adding this stool to help me reach the top shelf. It will neatly tuck in next to my side of the wardrobe and be out of the way when it’s not in use. Planning the PAX wardrobe system was so easy (AND FUN!) to create. The best part is, once you land on a design you love, you can add all the pieces to your cart with the click of one button. My design comes in at $1,168 which was way cheaper than the custom quotes we received.
