When I was thinking about the design for our master bedroom, I knew i wanted a place where we could retreat to at the end of a long day or spend lazy saturdays in bed reading. I like neutral spaces because I have a very busy mind and this palette seems to give my mind and eyes a rest. The design started with this gorgeous Daphne Bed in Cambric Ivory I found at France&Son. The tall, channeled headboard invites you to lean your head against it while reading or watching tv in bed(I don’t judge!). The soft, textured look of the upholstery adds elegance and interest to the room without over-powering the rest of the design.
The next piece i choose were the nightstands. I needed to add some warmth to the room so I knew I was looking for a medium wood tone. I found the perfect wood tone in this Keane Driftwood Solid Wood Charging Nightstand from Crate&Barrel. I love the refined look of these nightstands with clean lines, brass knobs and the inset drawer panel detail. These nightstands also have a powerstrip inside the top drawer which is so cool!
I am considering this Andes Harringdon Latte rug, also from France&Son for more texture and to break up the beige carpet. This rug is hand-woven with jute and a recycled chindi cotton fabric for just a touch of color and a softer feel. I love that its eco friendly and durable.
I saw this Elroy Sherpa Accent Chair and its matching ottoman online and I just knew that I needed them in my life. I think the wood frame plays nicely with the nightstands wood tones and the thick sherpa upholstery adds another texture to the room. These two pieces are currently sitting cozily in the corner of my living room while they wait on the rest of the bedroom pieces to arrive.
I was looking for a large, round lamp for the nightstands but the price point on the size I wanted were way out of my budget. I was thrilled when I stumbled on this beautiful Large Ribbed Ceramic Table Lamp while wandering through Target. I grabbed two and if you find these at your Target, you should absolutely grab one(or two)of these gorgeous lamps. The color in person is more varied then it shows here and it looks like a high-end piece!
I choose to use the Outdoor Grommet Curtains in Natural from Pottery Barn that i’ve had for almost 10 years. You probably think I am weird for using outdoor curtains inside the house but they are so beautiful and have held up to small children, potty training pets and life in general! All the pieces I have shown so far are what I like to call key investments pieces. They are the pieces that you will touch everyday for years to come. I like to make sure these are good quality and mostly neutral items (my neutrals colors are white, grey, navy blue, black and beige).
Originally, I was going to get these pretty bedding options from Pottery Barn but then I discovered the Casaluna Bedding From Target. Both bedding options are beautiful linen or linen blend in calming blue hues and invite you to snuggle in cozy comfort. In the end, the Casaluna collection won because of the great price point and availability(I’m not the most patient person in the world).

Now that I feel good about the large pieces, I started working on accessories. I like minimal accents so there is plenty of visual space, creating a calming enviroment. On one of the nightstands, I added this beautiful scented candle from Target. It has a dreamy blend of peppermint, sage and basil scents that give off a crisp, slightly earthy aroma. This will help set the mood as scents can do so well and encourage feelings of serenity.
I plan on using some of my favorite decor/floral books stacked neatly in the open shelf of the nightstands. The books below are some of my favorites!

I choose to use this Minted for west elm - Night Falling art piece from West Elm above my antique waterfall dresser. I love its moody blue hues that add a little pop of color. This piece is a bit of a splurge but great art pieces always are!
On top of that same dresser I added my antique camera(mine is all black but in the same style as this one), my antique gooseneck desk lamp and my beautiful jade boxes Thomas brought home from a deployment for me.
No room would be complete in my house without plants! Crazy plant lady? Maybe, but I believe every room needs plants and/or fresh flowers to add life to the space. Don’t have a green thumb? No problem! There are many great faux options too! Here are some of the live plants I would to incorporate into this room.
