The idea for this bedroom update came right out of the blue. Get it? Blue, because I brought in lots of navy blue. You gotta make yourself laugh... Anyways, our master bedroom has been changing a lot ever since we bought our home a little over a year ago. most recently it looked like this...
It was beautiful and bright but I wanted more color. My budget is pretty limited for our master bedroom but I still wanted a cozy place to come home to at the end of the day. I decided to shop around my house and what I found were my navy pillows. I mentioned last week how much I was inspired by Caitlin Wilson's Navy buffalo check fabric so this seemed like a great place to start. I hung up my old PB blackout curtains to soften the windows and tied them with twine. I am saving up for natural woven shades to match the kitchen and dining room.
I found some great MCM style bedside tables that were on sale at Target, plus I had a coupon for an extra 10% off so I grabbed two of them. I also picked up two wooden signs from my Hobby Lobby trip last week, they were half off and I love them. While I was at Target I picked out two new lamp bases and used my old lamp shades with them.
I moved my cream HomeGoods bench in front of the window, I love this bench. I've had it for four or five years now and it has moved with us all over. I have used it as a bench at our table, a place to sit and put shoes on, a cozy place to sit at the end of our bed and a window seat. I added my navy buffalo check pillows from Target (I know, I know. I have a problem) flanking my lovely Bonjour pillow I got from HomeGoods a couple years ago. Its one happy bench (Ignore my slippers).
Here is the room looking all pretty in navy. Did you check out my new rug? I got it on sale at Target as well, it fits our room size really well and its a perfect neutral. The wood piece above our bed is actually a hidden gun case.
I still haven't painted the walls and trim yet. I have the paint but I forgot the paint roller covers. Once I paint and get all the trim painted white I will put in a ceiling fan. I also made plans for a faux fireplace, since I'm having trouble finding one to fit my narrow wall. I am searching my local thrift shop, garage sales and antique shops for the perfect three drawer dresser. Wish me luck!

Happy Decorating!!
