Rediscovering Myself: How Motherhood Transformed Me
Motherhood is one of the most incredible journeys one can undertake. It's a transformative experience that changes you in ways you can't even imagine. I often reflect on how much I've changed since becoming a mother and how certain aspects of my personality and lifestyle have drastically changed. I am sharing some things that have been on my mind lately.
Before becoming a mother, I was a free-spirited woman who loved to dance while cleaning, binge-watch cheesy romantic movies, play video games online with friends, and blast loud music in the car with the windows down on hot summer days. But now, as a mother, I find myself more uptight, impatient, and cautious. I plan my days so much that it hurts my head. Don't get me wrong, I love being a mom, but I miss those carefree days.
I want my children to see the quirky and silly parts of me instead of the mom who constantly nags them about brushing their teeth and taking their vitamins. I want to rediscover the lost parts of myself someday. Can I still find them? Will they be there again someday? I'm determined to find those carefree parts of myself that responsibilities have overshadowed and show my children a different side of me.
Being a mother has changed me for the better. I've become more responsible, dependable, and nurturing. I've let go of certain aspects of my previous life, but I remain hopeful that those parts of me will return someday. I'm excited to rediscover the carefree spirit that defined me in earlier years and show my children that their mom is more than just a mom.
How has motherhood changed you, if at all, and are there parts you would like to rediscover about yourself one day?
