Last week I posted about finishing the basement family room. If you missed it, you can read about it here. After we moved all of the living room furniture downstairs I had a big empty room left upstairs. This empty space is now becoming our new dining room. I really wanted a dining space that was light and bright, somewhere we could gather and enjoy our meal together with friends and family. Up until now we have been eating at the peninsula off the kitchen. Here is the dining room/living room space before we moved in.
Last year I had found this amazing table at a goodwill store, it was a steal at $20! Did I mention it has 4 extensions so this table is perfect for entertaining?! I have been slowly sanding it down to get it ready for new stain/paint. I will make a DIY post about the refinishing the table sometime in the future when I get that project done.
Here is a look at the dining room space, I borrowed a rug from our bedroom and we brought in the (unfinished) table I mentioned earlier. I haven't bought any chairs yet because I am having a hard time deciding which ones I like best. But for now I brought my linen bench in for one side of the table (also borrowed from my bedroom) and some of my colorful outdoor chairs for the other sides.
I used the rest of my outdoor chairs for a makeshift bench by the front door as well. I still need to finish painting the room. You can see the chosen color on my gallery wall, its Sherwin Williams "Accessible Beige" and the trim will be "Dove White" by Benjamin Moore.
Isn't that pattern on the table top lovely? And all that sunshine pouring in through the back door makes my heart happy.
Plans for this space is to get a new light fixture and center it over the table, paint the walls and trim, buy a new and larger rug, get new chairs, finish the table, find/build a butlers table or hutch, plank the ceiling and paint the beams white. I am so excited to use this space! Keep checking back for more updates to this space and let me know what you think of the new dining room. Feel free to leave a comment below!
